Lakeshore State Park
2008 Summer Opener
Saturday, June 21st, 2008
We celebrated the Summer Solstice in style taking in beautiful views of Lake Michigan, downtown Milwaukee and the Summerfest grounds.
A few facts about Lakeshore State Park:
- First new state park in Wisconsin since 1978
- Is a man-made 17-acre island just east of the Summerfest Grounds
- Includes a 130-foot long pedestrian bridge, walking trails, docks and overnight boat camping & fishing areas
- Is open year-round and closes at 10:00pm daily
- The walking/cycling/dog walking/skating trail connects the Hank Aaron State Trail and the Oak Leaf Trail
- Directly south of Discovery World and the Milwaukee Art Museum

Below are a few pictures taken at the 2008 Summer Opener. We were there and brought canoes and kayaks for everyone to enjoy. A mixture of folks came out... some experienced paddlers and many new to paddling.
Can't wait for next year! Enjoy!
